The SB-2 Planning Grant provides funding and technical assistance to local governments in California to help cities and counties prepare, adopt, and implement plans and process improvements that streamline housing approvals and accelerate housing production. This funding will help cities and counties to accelerate housing production and streamline the approval of housing development affordable to owner and renter households at all income levels. It will also facilitate housing affordability, particularly for lower- and moderate-income families, promote development consistent with the State Planning Priorities, and ensure geographic equity in the distribution and expenditure of the funds.

The funding would be used for the rehabilitation of the inactive Aspan Well located within the City of Azusa. This project will consist of designing and constructing treatment facilities and well modifications to facilitate reactivating the well. Drought conditions continue to persist throughout California, and this project provides another critical source of water for the City and its approximately 50,000 residents. The project will satisfy approximately 15% of the current water system demand, and water will be directly treated and delivered to City residents. The project will allow Azusa Light and Water (ALW) to reduce its reliance on imported water supplies during periods of drought and emergency.
The development of parks must include stakeholder engagement through both in person and virtual engagement to ensure it is well-planned, sustainable, and reflects the needs and perspectives of the community. These community members, environmentalists, urban planners, city officials, and other relevant groups provide unique insights into how local parks can be developed to address different neighborhoods' needs and priorities. By involving stakeholders in park development, our grant writer can build a sense of ownership and support for the development of parks, leading to more sustainable and successful outcomes in understanding the diverse and often complex interests that shape park development, allowing our grant writers to seek funds to create more equitable and inclusive parks that meet the needs of all members of the community.

Shortly after departure in January 2020, engine problems forced Delta Airlines Flight 89 to return to
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The aircraft released fuel to lessen its weight as part of the
emergency landing process. Unfortunately, the fuel's release over a heavily populated area—including
several schools—led to reports of skin and eye irritation from both children and adults.
The fuel dump impacted several communities, including the City of Cudahy. To assist them in responding
to the incident and managing its effects on the neighborhood, they engaged Global Urban Strategies.
Global Urban Strategies assisted in coordinating with other affected cities, advised the City of Cudahy
on communication tactics, and represented the community's interests when dealing with Delta Airlines and
other pertinent parties. The Crisis Management included community meetings to inform affected residents
and address their concerns and media relations efforts to guarantee accurate reporting of the incident
and its effects.
Global Urban Strategies, Inc. conducted a collaborative design and planning workshop called charrettes that brings together stakeholders to create a vision for a project for the City of Hawaiian Gardens. Global assisted the City in conducting three-day charrette workshops with residents to develop a Community-Based Planning approach for recreational features. The process allowed for a quick and efficient way to gather input and ideas from a diverse group of stakeholders and maximized the points allocated to the Proposition 68 project application that was submitted.
Global's team evaluates perspectives, plans, and turns ideas into reality. Through our collaborative efforts, we assist DWR and Ground Sustainability Agencies in communicating water supply availability, water quality, and potential water shortages.
A story is often more impactful when witnessing it firsthand rather than imagining it. To bring this idea to life, our team worked on preparing the State of the City 2022 Presentation for San Luis Obispo. We put together various marketing materials, including highly polished videos, to capture the city's essence and communicate its latest developments and future goals to its residents. By presenting this information visually engagingly, we aimed to offer citizens a more immersive and memorable experience.
Global Urban Strategies' citywide newsletter in Rosemead is valuable for communicating with residents and stakeholders, building community engagement, and promoting the city's brand and image. The newsletter provides a regular and consistent way to share updates and news about the city's activities, increasing transparency and accountability, building trust between the city and its residents, and encouraging civic engagement. By highlighting the city's successes and accomplishments, the newsletter aims to attract new residents, businesses, and visitors and improve its overall image, which is particularly important for smaller cities that may struggle to compete with larger urban centers.
